Sight-testing
This is an important part of general health care. It is free for those who
are over 60, those under 18 who are still in full-time
education and various other categories of patient. Even
if your eyesight is good, an eye-test can detect underlying
symptom-free conditions.
Children
We can test the sight of children from the age of
four years. The test involves the use of colours and
simple pictures. All our staff are parents and make
a point of welcoming children and making them feel at
ease. Spectacle frames for children cost from £10. The
sight test and spectacle lenses for children are free
under the NHS
Contact lenses
We fit a wide range of hard and soft contact lenses (with the exception of scleral lenses). Soft lenses are particularly useful for playing sports. Although contact lenses cannot be used whilst swimming, we can supply prescription goggles for swimming.
